Geranium Lemon Jam
A flavor that will sweeten and brighten up your table... Made with the vitamin C-rich Çeşme lemon and geranium flowers, this jam is poised to become a breakfast favorite. If you want to try this special treat, here’s the recipe and instructions. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 2 or 3 Çeşme lemons
- 500 to 600 grams of granulated sugar (to taste)
- 3-5 geranium flower leaves
Instructions:
1.Preparing the Lemons:**
- Peel the lemons and slice the peels thinly.
- Set the sliced peels aside and soak them in cold water overnight.
- The next day, wash the peels that have been boiled for 5 minutes. Repeat this process 2-3 times to remove the acidity from the peels.
- After boiling, squeeze out the water from the peels.
2.Preparing the Lemon Juice:**
- Boil the peeled lemons in a pot. Strain the mixture and discard the pulp.
- Dilute the lemon juice with water to turn it into syrup.
3.Making the Jam:**
- Mix the lemon peels, diluted lemon syrup, and granulated sugar.
- Add finely chopped pink geranium flower leaves on top.
- Boil the mixture. Once the peels become transparent, turn off the heat.
- Pour the hot jam into jars. Store the jars upside down.
Tip:
Çeşme lemons differ from other lemons in that they are large, with thick peels, and have an orange-like interior. This non-acidic lemon variety has a distinctive aroma.
